FOREST STEWARDSHIP PROGRAM
Do you own woodlands and want to do something with them but don’t know where to start?
The purpose of the Forest Stewardship Program is to assist you in multiple use management of your woodland. We can help you get started on actively managing your woodland for personal benefits, while protecting the quality of its natural resources for the future. The most important thing you can do to start with is deciding on objectives, or goals, for your property.
The Wadena SWCD has the technical staff to develop Forest Stewardship Plans on privately owned forestland in Wadena County. It is a fee based program depending on the amount of acres you have. If this is a program you are interested in, please call our office.
Another new tax class has been created within the county, called the 2C Managed Forest Land Class.
Both programs have their strengths and weaknesses.
